I offer three levels of editing services. The level of edit is ultimately up to you; however, after reviewing your manuscript or draft I'll provide a customized quote with my honest feedback about which service(s) I think will best assist you in your goals. I take into account that sometimes these levels can overlap a bit. I'm also happy to provide a brief sample edit to show you the levels applied to your work.

My rates are flexible and depend on the scope of work. After reviewing your manuscript we can discuss the appropriate rate, whether per word, per hour, or per project.

Content Edit

An evaluation of the overall structure and organization

• Suggest ways to improve organization and flow (restructure sections, paragraphs, or sentences as needed)

• Offer advice to adjust headings and ensure smooth transitions

• Identify gaps in logic

• Ensure consistency and clarity of voice, content, and editorial style

Copyedit

A detailed word-for-word evaluation at the sentence level

• Check spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and word choice

• Verify or query accuracy of facts

• Cross-check references, figures, or tables

• Suggest improvements in syntax for clarity, consistency, and conciseness

• Verify accuracy and placement of figures and tables

• Propose ideas to introduce variety and avoid redundancy

• Ensure consistency with editorial style

 

 

Proofread

This is the lightest and final stage, occurring only after all other editing is complete

• Correct typos or spacing discrepancies

• Ensure consistency of font and format throughout

• Check final page numbering

• Verify text references to figures or tables
